Her story
Kaminiben is a skilled artisan hailing from a humble background. She is an integral part of our organisation, providing employment and training to marginalised women to become self-reliant and future leaders.
It’s hard to picture a woman from a conservative family heading out in search of work to earn sustenance. Kaminiben joined Gramshree in 2005 as a trainee embroidery artisan. With her persistent hard work and excellent work ethic, she eventually became the community leader giving employment to 150+ families at our Ranip Center.
In her initial days, she struggled to convince her family to let her work. Eventually, witnessing her dedication and intention to do good, every individual favoured her.
Kaminiben works as a seamless channel between Gramshree and the women of the Ranip Center. She also conducts social awareness programmes on health, hygiene, nutrition, yoga and meditation with the women artisans of the Ranip vicinity.
Because of her, today, many women earn with dignity and positively impact the country’s future with their thread and creativity.
