Gratefulness is a value that is deeply instilled in our system. Our ‘Heart Pins’ honour this value.
In a quiet corner of Ahmedabad, at Ramapir no Tekro, our women artisans are transforming discarded patches of cloth into gorgeous and meaningful creations.
These pins are empowering marginalised women by offering them dignity at work. Women living in slums and lower-income areas often work in exploitative and harmful environments. These Heart Pins offer them an opportunity to employ their skills and engage their minds while being in a nurturing environment.
Our Heart Pins are renowned across the globe, as they are offered to people to thank them for their deeds and to honour each other, awakening the feeling of ‘Maitri’ (friendship).

Rooted in Ahmedabad
Where the Heart Pins story grows
Ramapir no Tekro, where our women artisans make the Heart Pins, has been at the heart of Gramshree’s work in Ahmedabad since its early years.
1996
Gramshree started working in Gandhi Ashram and the slum area near Ramapir no Tekro in Ahmedabad.
2008
Our website noted that Gramshree had organised women in various areas around Ahmedabad, but predominantly served Ramapir no Tekro.
2011-12
Gramshree created a production centre and design studio at Sabarmati and Rudra Center in Ahmedabad.
Heart Pins at Rudra Center
Rudra Center was the first centre to adopt the Heart Pins initiative, with 28 women honing their skills with love.
